The Coast Guard has published a Notice of Decision regarding a rulemaking petition to establish a load line-exempted route in the Gulf of Mexico.

The exemption would allow certain non-load line river barges to transit outside the Boundary Line along the west coast of Florida enroute to and from Tampa Bay.

After careful consideration of public comments and other relevant factors discussed in the Notice, the Coast Guard has decided against granting the petition.

This decision was issued on August 15, 2014.
