2/9/2015: Temporary suspension of auto-generated email responses for receipt of application

The National Maritime Center announces that due to new security protocols, the use of automated e-mail responses regarding the receipt of Merchant Mariner Credential applications has been temporarily suspended. Mariners will no longer receive the previous automatic response “application has been received at a regional exam center.”

If you provided a viable e-mail address with your submission, you will begin to receive application status updates once the application is acknowledged and entered into the National Maritime Center’s database system.

As NMC continues to look into alternative solutions impacting these new protocols, please do not submit your application multiple times to the same or different regional examination centers. Multiple submissions may cause confusion, overload the system and/or slow down the application process.

Mariners and other providers should contact the Customer Service Center at or 1-888-IASKNMC (427-5662) with any questions or feedback.
