Since 2008, the Marine Safety Center’s Tonnage Division has issued informational weekly notes for use by classification societies, referred to as authorized measurement organizations, that measure vessels on the Coast Guard’s behalf.

Recently, the Marine Safety Center compiled these documents, and is making them publicly available on their website. While the principal audience for weekly notes has been the measurement organizations themselves, others interested in tonnage matters may find them useful as well.
