The Coast Guard seeks comment on the approval of an extension of a currently approved collection for defect/noncompliance report and campaign update report.
This collection requires manufacturers to provide the Coast Guard with an initial report consisting of certain information about the defect notification and recall campaign being conducted and follow up reports describing progress.
The Coast Guard requests comments from manufacturers of boats and certain items of ‘designated’ associated equipment, such as inboard engines, outboard motors, sterndrive engines or certain inflatable personal flotation devices.
In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing:
(1) The practical utility of the Collections;
(2) The accuracy of the estimated burden of the Collections;
(3) Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of information subject to the Collections;
(4) Ways to minimize the burden of the Collections on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.
All comments and related material must be submitted on or Sept. 15, 2015.
