The Coast Guard seeks comment on the approval of an extension of a currently approved collection for Title 46 CFR Subchapter Q: Lifesaving, electrical, engineering and navigation equipment, construction and materials and marine sanitation devices.

This information is used by the Coast Guard to ensure that regulations governing specific types of safety equipment, materials and Marine Sanitation Devices installed on commercial vessels and pleasure craft are met. Manufacturers are required to submit drawings, specifications, and laboratory test reports to the Coast Guard before any approval is given.

The Coast Guard requests comments from the manufacturers of safety equipment, materials and marine sanitation devices.

In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing:

(1) The practical utility of the Collections;

(2) The accuracy of the estimated burden of the Collections;

(3) Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of information subject to the Collections;

(4) Ways to minimize the burden of the Collections on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

All comments and related material must be submitted on or before September 29, 2015.
