The Coast Guard’s Office of Design and Engineering Standards announces the availability of Policy Letter 03-15, Acceptance of CAP 437, Standards for Offshore Helicopter Landing Areas.

This policy authorizes U.S. flagged mobile offshore drilling units, floating Outer Continental Shelf facilities and vessels to utilize CAP 437 in lieu of the helicopter facilities standards in 46 CFR Part 108.

The design and equipment standards of CAP 437 have been reviewed by the Coast Guard and are considered to be at least as effective as the helicopter facilities regulations in 46 CFR Part 108.
