The Coast Guard is opening up the solicitation period for nominations of the Rear Admiral William M. Benkert Award for Environmental Excellence.
This biennial award was started in 1995 and is the premier environmental protection award presented by the Coast Guard to members of marine industry. It was designed to distinguish outstanding achievements, extending beyond compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
The award serves to recognize corporations and businesses involved in marine facility or vessel operations that have demonstrated sustained excellence and outstanding achievement in protecting the marine environment. It also encourages innovations in operations, maintenance, cargo handling, refueling and training while providing a means to share best practices with others in the marine community.
Applications will be accepted from October 1 to November 30, 2015. Potential applicants should visit the Benkert Award page in Homeport for award guidelines:
