Today, the Coast Guard’s Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, Rear Adm. Paul Thomas, testified before a Congressional Hearing focusing on the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Program. Thomas’ comments and answers focused on the following:
- Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s recent report entitled, “Impact of United States Coast Guard Regulations on U.S. Flag Registry”
- The status of Subchapter “M” Towing Vessel Regulations
- IMO Verified Gross Mass Container Weight Amendments
- Ballast water regulations
- Coast Guard regulatory program update
