The Coast Guard seeks comment on the approval of a revision to a previous collection of information regarding reporting requirements for barges loaded with certain dangerous cargoes operating on the inland rivers and the Illinois waterway.
The information collected will be used to ensure port safety and security and to ensure the uninterrupted flow of commerce. In particular, the Coast Guard seeks comments from owners, agents, masters, towing vessel operators or persons in charge of barges loaded with certain dangerous cargoes or having certain dangerous cargo residue operating on the inland rivers located within the 8th and 9th Coast Guard districts.
In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing:
(1) The practical utility of the Collection;
(2) The accuracy of the estimated burden of the Collection;
(3) Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of information subject to the Collection;
(4) Ways to minimize the burden of the Collection on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.
Comments must be submitted on or before July 21, 2016.
