From Sept. 27 to 29, 2016, the Ballast Water Management Tech (BWMTech) North America conference will take place in Miami. The three-day conference will feature speakers from a variety of agencies and organizations, including the International Maritime Organization, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Representing the U.S. Coast Guard will be Cmdr. Meridena Kauffman, the Coast Guard environmental standards officer, and Lt. Cmdr. Jason Kling, BWMS type-approval manager at the Coast Guard Marine Safety Center.
Kauffman will provide an update on the Coast Guard’s ballast water management program, while Kling will discuss the U.S. Coast Guard type-approval testing process and how it compares to the IMO process. Kling will also explain the new 2016 type-approval FAQs and give an update on the status of testing and approvals.
Coverage of both speeches will occur right here, on Maritime Commons, following the event. For live updates, you can also follow @maritimecommons on Twitter.
