9/9/2016: Information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget – Course approval, records for Merchant Mariner training schools

As a courtesy to our audience, Maritime Commons will provide a daily compilation of nationally-relevant Federal Register Notices. To provide comments for the public record, follow the Federal Register link for each individual notice. Please note, the Coast Guard cannot respond to comments on these notices outside of the Federal Register.

The Coast Guard seeks comments on an extension of its approval for the collection of information on course approval and records for Merchant Mariner training schools.

The information is needed to ensure that merchant marine training schools meet minimal statutory requirements. The information is used to approve the curriculum, facility and faculty for these schools. The Coast Guard would appreciate comments from merchant marine training schools.

In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing:

(1) The practical utility of the Collection;
(2) The accuracy of the estimated burden of the Collection;
(3) Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of information subject to the Collection;
(4) Ways to minimize the burden of the Collection on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

Comments must reach the Coast Guard on or before Nov. 7, 2016.
