Please note, the Coast Guard cannot respond to comments on these notices outside of the Federal Register.

The Coast Guard seeks comments on the extension of its approval for the collection of information on the standards of training, certification and watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1995, 1997 and 2010 amendments to the international convention.

This information is necessary to ensure compliance with the international requirements of the STCW Convention, and to maintain an acceptable level of quality in activities associated with training and assessment of merchant mariners. The Coast Guard would appreciate comments from owners and operators of vessels, training institutions and mariners.

In particular, the Coast Guard would appreciate comments addressing:

(1) The practical utility of the Collection;
(2) The accuracy of the estimated burden of the Collection;
(3) Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of information subject to the Collection;
(4) Ways to minimize the burden of the Collection on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

Comments must reach the Coast Guard on or before Nov. 11, 2016.
