The study contains 14 conclusions and 21 recommendations that are aimed at further reducing the risk of maritime accidents in VTS areas. There are 17 recommendations directed at the Coast Guard. The recommendations focused on improved training, communications, and establishing a risk management program.
The Coast Guard fully supported this effort and appreciates the comprehensive work done by the NTSB. The Coast Guard will evaluate and use the results to improve the effectiveness of VTS nationwide.
