2/1/2017: U.S. Maritime Alert 2017-001A

On behalf of the newly developed Maritime Operation Threat Response (MOTR) Annex II Communication Core Group (C2G), the U.S. Maritime Administration issued U.S. Maritime Alert 2017-001A – Waterborne Improvised Explosive Device Geographic Area: Southern Red Sea.

A maritime attack against a Saudi frigate resulting in an explosion has been reported in the Southern Red Sea in the vicinity of Hudaydah Port, Yemen on Jan. 30, 2017. Exercise caution when transiting this area. Further updates will be provided when available.
