The U.S. Coast Guard is pleased to announce the recipients for the 2018 Biennial Rear Adm. William M. Benkert Marine Environmental Protection Award for Excellence.
The program recognizes corporations and businesses involved in marine facility or vessel operations that have demonstrated sustained excellence and outstanding achievement in protecting the marine environment. It also encourages innovations in operations, maintenance, cargo handling, refueling and training, and provides a means for award recipients to share their successful methods and techniques with others in industry.
This year’s pool of applicants was highly competitive, demonstrating industry’s overall commitment to the environment. We congratulate this year’s winners:
Osprey: Polar Tankers, Inc.
Gold: Norwegian Cruise Lines
Silver: Harley Marine Services
Bronze: Marathon Petroleum Company-Marine Services
Honorable Mention: Alaska Maritime Prevention & Response Network
The award will be presented during the American Petroleum Institute (API) Maritime Transportation Forum, March 2, 2018, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
