In March, the U.S. Committee on the Maritime Transportation System hosted a webinar on the Medical Certification process that is part of the merchant mariner credential. National Maritime Center’s (NMC) commanding officer Capt. Kirsten Martin and Chief of the Medical Evaluations Division Dr. Laura Torres-Reyes addressed the upcoming changes in the merchant mariner medical certification and answered questions from webinar participants.
CMTS recently posted the audio recording of the webinar on its website and Maritime Commons is sharing the link for our readers who are interested in the subject or who were unable to participate.
To access the audio file, titled “Merchant Mariner Medical Certification with National Maritime Center,” visit CMTS’s Military to Mariner Initiative website and scroll down to the Military to Mariner Webinar Series section.
If you’d like to follow along with the audio file, the presentation slides (approximately 3.5 MBs) are also available. Questions on the Medical Certification and merchant mariner credentialing process can be directed toward 1-888-IASKNMC (1-888-427-5662) or to NMC’s online chat function.
