Coast Guard members from the Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance were recently invited to participate in an American Waterways Operators (AWO) webinar aimed at helping towing vessel owners and operators better understand the process of obtaining Certificates of Inspection under Subchapter M regulations. Cmdr. Jennifer Hnatow and Mr. Erik Johnson, both from the Domestic Vessel Compliance Division, were on hand to address AWO members’ questions about compliance, enforcement, and the certification process. The other panel members included Rick Iuliucci, General Manager of The Vane Brothers Company; Bruce Reed, Vice President and COO of Tidewater Barge Lines; and Tessa Seitzinger, Director of Compliance for Marquette Transportation Company.
A recording of that webinar is now available on AWO’s website. Although the focus of the webinar was to discuss experiences and lessons gained from the issuance of early COIs to the TSMS option vessels that belong to the companies represented on the panel, Maritime Commons is sharing the webinar link for the benefit of our readers who are also working to comply with Subchapter M.
