The Coast Guard congratulates the Charleston Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC) as the recipient of the 2017 AMSC of the Year award.
The award is based on outstanding achievements and contributions in safeguarding the Marine Transportation System, including port areas, adjacent waterways, coastal and/or shore areas, waterfront facilities, and other maritime critical infrastructure and key assets.
It was extremely difficult to select only one award winner as all AMSCs have made substantial impacts to bolster maritime security. Honorable Mentions go to:
• Long Island Sound AMSC
• Northeast Gulf of Mexico Regional (Mobile) AMSC
• Puget Sound AMSC
• Port of New York/New Jersey and the Port of Albany AMSC
Rear Adm. John Nadeau, assistant commandant for prevention policy, will preside over an award presentation July 9, 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Office of Port and Facility Compliance’s Annual AMSC report, which highlights the tremendous effort and great work of all 43 AMSCs, is expected to be published in July.
