9/14/2018: Updated Plan Review Guidelines from Marine Safety Center

For the convenience of our readers, Maritime Commons will occasionally announce when the Marine Safety Center posts updates to its Plan Review Guidelines and Design Verification Guidelines website.

The following Plan Review Guidelines were updated in August 2018:

C1-42 – “Oceangoing Tank Barge Cargo Authority”

The purpose of this PRG is to provide guidance and information regarding the submission of the Tank Group Characteristics Loading Form for Oceangoing Tank Barges to request the generation of a Cargo Authority Attachment (CAA).

Plan Review Guidelines were developed by MSC staff and are provided as an aid in the preparation and review of vessel plans and submissions. They were developed to supplement existing guidance and are not intended to substitute or replace laws, regulations, or other official Coast Guard policy documents. For more information about any of these PRGs, contact the MSC at or 202-795-6729. When contacting MSC, reference the PRG by procedure number, e.g., C1-42.

This blog is not a replacement or substitute for the formal posting of regulations and updates or existing processes for receiving formal feedback of the same.
