The National Maritime Center posted a bulletin on its website announcing that Regional Exam Center (REC) Anchorage is closed until further notice. The REC was affected by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that occurred Nov. 30, 2018. Do not fax or mail applications to this REC. Paper applications should be sent to another REC for processing. The National Maritime Center will continue to work applications submitted prior to Nov. 30, 2018. If you recently mailed or faxed an application to REC Anchorage, you may contact the NMC at the number below to ensure it has been received.

Updates concerning the status of REC Anchorage, as well as other REC and Monitoring Unit location information, may be found on the REC Homepage of the NMC website. Mariners needing to schedule application or examination appointments during the closure should contact the NMC via online chat, by calling 1-888-IASKNMC (427-5662), or by e-mailing IASKNMC@uscg.mil.
