The National Boating Safety Advisory Committee (NBSAC) recently elected Mr. Dave Marlow and Mr. John Adey as the Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson, respectivly. Mr. Marlow is the Director of Product Integrity and Government Affairs at Brunswick Corporation and Mr. Adey is President of the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). Mr. Marlow becomes the ninth Chairperson of NBSAC during its 50-year history as first a Council, by which it was known until 2020, and now as a Committee. Mr. Adey becomes the Vice Chairperson of the Committee. They are the first to be elected by membership into their roles with the new Committee, reflecting both a change to the selection process and how highly they are regarded by the recreational boating safety community.
The function of the National Boating Safety Advisory Committee is to provide advice to the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Coast Guard on matters relating to national boating safety. There are 21 members, representing three sectors of the recreational boating community: the states, industry, and boating organizations. All members are dedicated to enhancing recreational boating safety and environmental stewardship.
