The National Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee (N-MERAPC) will be holding three subcommittee meetings pertaining to Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault- Prevention and Culture Change in the Merchant Marine, STCW Convention and Code Review, and Military Education, Training, and Assessment for STCW and National Mariner Endorsements.
These meetings will be held VIRTUALLY and details to join the meetings will be sent to N-MERPAC’s mailing list two days before the meeting. If you are not part of N-MERPAC’s mailing list, you may request information on attending any of the following subcommittee meetings by emailing Alternate Designated Federal Officer, Megan Johns Henry at megan.c.johns@uscg.mil.
Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault- Prevention and Culture Change in the Merchant Marine – This subcommittee gathers the input of industry, via N-MERPAC, to develop recommendations to the Coast Guard for the prevention of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the maritime industry. February 16 & 17- meeting 10 am- 12pm, 1-3pm both days (all times ET).
STCW Convention and Code Review – This subcommittee gathers recommendations to provide to the Coast Guard on areas of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended (STCW) and the Seafarers Training, Certification, & Watchkeeping (STCW) Code to be considered during a potential review at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). February 22 & 23- meeting 10 am- 12pm, 1-3pm both days (all times ET).
Military Education, Training, and Assessment for STCW and National Mariner Endorsements – This subcommittee gathers recommendations to provide to the Coast Guard and continue the progress made by the military services in evaluating the applicability of Military Education, Training and Assessment for STCW and National Merchant Mariner Credential Endorsements, and evaluate emergent requirements related to the ongoing Military to Mariner initiative. March 2- meeting 12-3PM (ET).
