Policy Letter Update: Subchapter M enforcement posture for certificate of inspection phase-in requirements

The Coast Guard Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance (CG-CVC) has announced the issuance of Policy Letter 20-01, CH.1 – Subchapter M Enforcement Posture for Certificate of Inspection Phase-In Requirements.

Change 1 extends the Policy Letter expiration to December 31, 2022, and requires Officers in Charge Marine Inspection (OCMIs) to issue a CG-835V (code 60) to non-compliant vessels for failure to have onboard a valid Certificate of Inspection (COI) after July, 19, 2022. The CG-835V will prohibit vessel operations until the vessel has onboard a valid COI.
