The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center received its twenty-fourth application for Ballast Water Management System type approval for the EcoBallast Ballast Water Management System manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.

The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center received its 14th application for Ballast Water Management System type approval for the OceanGuard Ballast Water Management System manufactured by Headway Technology Co., Ltd.

5/11/2018: New policy letter available regarding Equivalency Determination – FRP gratings conforming to ASTM F3059

The Coast Guard’s Office of Design and Engineering Standards published Policy Letter 01-18: “Equivalency Determination-FRP Gratings Conforming to ASTM F3059,” that provides guidance on the acceptance of Fiber Reinforced Plastic gratings as equivalent to steel on inspected vessels, including mobile offshore drilling units and floating production platforms.

3/13/2018: Tenth application received for BWMS type approval

The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center received its tenth application for Ballast Water Management System type approval for the BIO-SEA B Ballast Water Management System manufactured by BIO-UV Group.

8/16/2017: LGC NCOE releases guidance for analyzing risk of simultaneous operations during liquefied natural gas bunkering

Field Notice 01-2017 contains recommendations for the marine industry and Captains of the Port to consider when assessing the risks of LNG Simultaneous Operations. It includes guidance on an optional, formal operational risk assessment, if the vessel operator chooses to conduct one.
