The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center issued the 30th U.S. Coast Guard Ballast Water Management System Type Approval Certificate to Hyde Marine, Inc., after a detailed review of the manufacturer’s type approval applications determined the systems met the requirements of 46 CFR 162.060.

The National Maritime Center will launch a centralized electronic delivery process (via e-mail) for renewal examinations in order to maintain the flow of mariner credentials during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eighth District MSIB: Extension of Third Party Surveys
In an effort to help minimize possible exposure of the novel coronavirus to offshore oil and gas facilities the Outer Continental Shelf Officer in Charge Marine Inspection has published Marine Safety Information Bulletin 20-03 that allows operators to differ the third party inspections associated with the Coast Guard regulated firefighting and lifesaving systems, as well as cranes, until 31 July, 2020.
