The Coast Guard published guidance on how to verify the installation of required VHF radios with digital selective calling capabilities on inspected domestic passenger vessels and commercial fishing vessels as required by January 2016.

The Coast Guard published a safety bulletin providing clarification about the five-year mandatory dockside safety exam that applies to many commercial fishing vessels.
10/7/2015: Establishment of Tuna Vessel Monitoring System in the Eastern Pacific Ocean
The National Marine Fisheries Service is issuing regulations under the Tuna Conventions Act to implement Resolution C-14-02 of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission by establishing requirements for any U.S. commercial fishing vessel that is 24 meters (78.74 feet) or more in overall length engaging in fishing activities for either tuna or tuna-like species in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
