The Office of Port and Facility Compliance announced that the application deadline for the 2018 Biennial Rear Admiral William M. Benkert Environmental Protection Award is extended to January 26, 2018.
1/9/2018: Ship Structure Committee soliciting research ideas for 2018 Project Year
The SSC is seeking research ideas within four focus areas: 1) Structural Lifetime Extension; 2) Arctic Construction, Operations, Technologies, and Effects; 3) Composite Materials; and 4) SSC Follow-Up Report. All submissions much reach the SSC Executive Director by Feb. 28, 2018.

Started in 1995, the award recognizes corporations and businesses involved in marine facility or vessel operations which have demonstrated sustained excellence and outstanding achievement in protecting the marine environment. It also encourages innovations in operations, maintenance, cargo handling, refueling and training while providing a means to share best practices with others in the maritime community.
11/20/2017: Update on draft NVIC 05-17 – Guidelines for addressing cyber risks at MTSA facilities
Over the coming months, the Coast Guard will evaluate the more than 250 comments received and identify sections of NVIC 05-17 that would benefit from a more detailed explanation to improve clarity. Once the comments have been evaluated and NVIC 05-17 appropriately revised, the final document will be posted to the Federal Register.
