12/10/2014: Consolidated cruise ship security regulations

The Coast Guard proposes to amend its regulations on cruise ship terminal security to provide detailed and flexible requirements for screening of persons and items intended for carriage on a cruise ship.

12/8/2014: IMO adopts Polar Code safety requirements

The International Maritime Organization finalized the Polar Code and adopted amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea which will create mandatory safety requirements for ships operating in Arctic and Antarctic waters.

12/5/2014: OPA 90 Single Hull Tank Vessel phase-out finalizing on January 1

A reminder about the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 and the final phase-out date for all single-hull tank vessels and all single-hull tank vessels with double sides or double bottoms to operate carrying oil in bulk in U.S. waters, including the Exclusive Economic Zone.

The Coast Guard requests comments on the continuation of a study for an expansion of scope to the Port Access Route Study and how consolidating vessel traffic into a defined vessel routing system may impact or benefit the region.
