4/7/2017: Safety Alert 03/17 – The dangers of counterfeit parts
A recent inspection revealed evidence of falsely identified fasteners being used as part of the drive train system. Several installed bolt heads separated from their shanks and, as a result, a splined hub coupling loosened and disconnected from the reduction gear / transmission.
4/5/2017: Connecticut Maritime Association’s 2017 Shipping Conference – Remarks from Vice Adm. Charles Ray, deputy commandant for operations
In March, senior Coast Guard leaders had the opportunity to make remarks on various topics during the Connecticut Maritime Association’s Shipping 2017 conference and expo in Stamford, Connecticut. Third in the series is a keynote address by Vice Admiral Charles Ray, deputy commandant for operations. In his remarks, Ray talks about the ever-changing maritime environment and how Coast Guard regulations will continue to protect the environment but also support the Marine Transportation System.
4/5/2017: Atlantic Coast Port Access Route Study complete
After a review of the comments received, the Coast Guard has determined that it is not necessary to revise the final report, and therefore considers it to be complete as published.
4/5/2017: Recreational boat flotation standards-Update of outboard engine weight test requirements
The interim rule is effective June 1, 2018. Comments and related material must be submitted on or before July 5, 2017.
