9/24/2018: Gulf of Mexico Area Maritime Security Committee annual security exercise

Seventy participants from across the Gulf of Mexico attended Gulf Guardian, including representatives of the offshore maritime industry, oil and gas exploration and production facilities, and related service industries, as well as port authorities from Houston, south Louisiana, and Mobile. 7/27/2018: Area Maritime Security Committees 2017 Annual Report – Challenges, suggestions, accomplishments, and best practices

The annual report consolidates information provided by each of the 43 AMSCs established around the nation to the Office of Port and Facility Compliance and discusses common issues related to challenges, suggestions, accomplishments, and best practices. Additionally, the report assists the Coast Guard devise national strategies to address common problems, emerging threats, validate port specific data, track AMSC activities nationwide, and measure AMSCs alignment with national preparedness goals.

7/26/2018: Charleston, S.C., Area Maritime Security Committee presented with award for achievements

Last month the Charleston, S.C., Area Maritime Security Committee was named the 2017 AMSC of the Year, and Rear Adm. John Nadeau, assistant commandant for prevention policy, presented Committee representatives with the award during a ceremony July 9, 2018. Area Maritime Security Committees provide the framework for communication and collaboration necessary to ensure our nation’s ports remain secure and resilient. The exceptional and diverse accomplishments and unity of efforts across the Charleston AMSC area of responsibility is a model for excellence in public service and governance. In this post, we are sharing additional details about the Committee’s efforts that contributed to the security of the Nation’s critical Marine Transportation System.

7/25/2018: Registration open for Gulf of Mexico Area Maritime Security Committee’s annual exercise

The Gulf of Mexico Area Maritime Security Committee is holding its annual table top security exercise in Galveston, Texas, and is inviting all maritime stakeholders and government agencies operating in the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf to participate. The exercise will focus on unique physical security threat identification, assessment, and communications procedures for stakeholders and agencies in the Gulf of Mexico OCS. Attendee registration closes Aug. 1, 2018.
