3/23/2018: Remaining DGPS sites to be discontinued over the next 3 years

The staged reduction of the remaining Coast Guard DGPS broadcast sites will begin in 2018 and end with the last broadcast of GPS corrections over medium frequency in 2020.

6/9/2017: Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) site decommissioning

Within the last year, the nationwide DGPS system has undergone a substantial reduction in the number of operational sites. Most of the sites are owned and maintained by USCG, but a few are owned and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). USACE will employ a phased shutdown of its five remaining DGPS sites. The 39 USCG owned and operated DGPS sites will continue to transmit.

8/18/2015: Nationwide Differential Global Positioning System

Due to the declining use of NDGPS and an assessment by the Department of Homeland Security, the decommission and shutdown of 62 DGPS sites is being proposed. This notice seeks public comments on the shutdown and decommissioning of those sites.
