12/16/2016: 2nd Liquefied Gas Senior Executive Forum held

The Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO) in cooperation with the Coast Guard’s Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise’s (LGC NCOE) and The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) hosted senior Coast Guard leaders and liquefied-gas-industry experts from around the country last week in Houston. This event was dedicated to preparing for the increased use of liquefied gases throughout the maritime community and gaining a deeper understanding of the intricacies each party faces as they adapt to the rapid growth of this multi-billion dollar industry.

The Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise works with the private sector to train Coast Guard LNG fueled vessel inspectors.

9/20/2016: Receipt of application requesting type-approval of BWMS

The Coast Guard Marine Safety Center (MSC) received an application requesting U.S. Coast Guard type-approval for the Optimarin ballast water management system. The application request was submitted by DNV GL, a U.S. Coast Guard accepted independent laboratory, on behalf of the system manufacturer.

8/1/2016: Coast Guard signs new memorandum of agreement with DNV GL

Today, the Coast Guard and DNV GL signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) authorizing DNV GL to participate in the Alternate Compliance Program (ACP) and delegated certain survey and certification services for U.S. flagged vessels.
