Solicitation for the Rear Admiral Richard E. Bennis Award for Excellence in Maritime Security
The Coast Guard is seeking nominations for the Rear Admiral Richard E. Bennis Award for Excellence in Maritime Security to highlight and recognize outstanding achievements and contributions of the maritime community with regards to implementation of Maritime Transportation Security Act, or MTSA, requirements and other maritime security best practices in safeguarding our nation’s marine transportation system.

The award selection panel reviewed the annual reports of the 43 AMSCs and judged based on contributions and achievements in safeguarding the Marine Transportation System.

Earlier this month, Rear Adm. John Nadeau, assistant commandant for prevention policy, addressed American Waterways Operators members during AWO’s Fall Convention in Houston. Nadeau discussed the importance of the Marine Transportation System to the U.S. economy and national security and Coast Guard and maritime stakeholder contributions to a safe and secure MTS. 10/11/2018: Coast Guard announces new Maritime Commerce Strategic Outlook

Today in the Coast Guard’s 8th District we announced the Maritime Commerce Strategic Outlook, which outlines the Commandant’s long term vision to support and grow maritime commerce in the United States. In this post, Rear Adm. John Nadeau offers a few comments regarding the outlook and its three major lines of effort.
